General Assembly UX/UI Certificate Project - 2021

How do we remind people to water their plants? How can we keep track of multiple plants? People are finding dried leaves and brown spots on their plants because they forget to water our plants and don't educate ourselves on plant care.

Research and Affinity Diagramming

After conducting interviews with 3 people, I found that 2 have a busy schedule so they prefer plants that require less maintenance. 2 said that when they buy a new plant, they are given little to no care information, leaving them with no guidance on plant care. All 3 people said they prefer a simple interface and good customer experience in a digital product.

A plant care mobile application will help users to organize their plants, educate, and remind them to water their plants.

Solution Sketches and Wireframes

I started with solution sketches and moved onto low-fi wireframes. Once I had all my content laid out, I moved onto the high-fi prototype by adding my established design systems in Figma. My first iteration of my design phase was too feminine and after testing the prototype with users, I found that a Notifications page was useless and the users were getting confused. In this stage, my user flow was not successful.

Design and Testing

The first iteration of my design phase was too feminine and felt like the color scheme didn't appeal to everyone. After testing the 1st iteration, I found that a Notifications page was useless and the users were getting confused.

Iteration 2

The second iteration has a more gender neutral color scheme and I wanted to add green because this project is all about plants. After feedback and testing, the notification page morphed into a calendar page, which will be the main feature of this application to track watering plants.
